Health Screening

	Vision screening are conducted at the beginning of each school year:
	All 5th graders are tested along with any new students to the district.
	We also test students who need it for a particular type of placement: e.g. Individual Education Plan
	Hearing test are conducted by the Speech Language Pathologist.
	Overweight is an increasingly serious problem in children and has been linked to a number of health conditions like:  diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, and psychological problems.  Heights and weights for each student are measured and sent to the South Dakota Department of Health to help monitor this ongoing problem.  We do not include the student names in the data collected.
