???WHEN TO KEEP MY CHILD HOME???

There are numerous times when you may consider keeping you child home, but here are a few time when it should be obvious
Conjunctivitis:  Commonly known as "Pink Eye".  There are numerous reasons for it, but your child needs to stay away from school until they are cleared by a physician.  Then a note needs to accompany them when they return to school stating that they are no longer contagious.
Diarrhea is no fun, no matter what the cause.  Keep them close to home and provide them with some moist towel wipes, to reduce irritation.
A persistent cough is sometime an indication of something more serious and should be evaluated at a healthier clinic.
Lice are difficulty to deal with and if detected at school, your child will have to be sent home.  Douglas also has a "no nit" policy.  Meaning that, once all live lice are removed, you have five days to have all the nits removed as well.  If nits are still present after this five day period, you child cannot be in school.
Any suspicious skin eruptions may be communicable and the school is not equipped to detect the majority of them.  Rashes need to be evaluated by a physician and a note sent to the school, from the provider, saying when the student can return.
Lozgenes and cough drops can sometime make the throat feel better, but they will not heal strepthroat.  Many times you don't have to make an appointment to get a throat culture.  If your child does have strep, they must be on antibiotics for a minimum of 24 hours, before they can return to school.  Example: If you child was diagnosed and started on medication after work on Thursday, please don't bring them back to school at anytime on Friday.  Just enjoy a long weekend with your child.
If your child has a temperature of 100 degrees or more you can give them medicine, liquids, and lots of TLC, but please don't give them to us. Keep them home.
Vomiting is a painful process of the body expelling it's stomach contents.  This is something that is better shared with family members at home and not students and staff here at school.
